DAN MCCLELLAND - Mixed Media

Dan McClelland attended the Minneapolis College of Art & Design (MCAD) and the University of Minnesota, Duluth. He was recently awarded a residency at the Anderson Center in Red Wing, Minnesota. He is foremost a painter but also has interests in film and music. Focusing primarily on figure painting in past work, he now intends to combine a sometimes abstract style with more precise architectural rendering.

"I try to capture movement in whatever I am painting or drawing. A great teacher once told me that you must be able to draw a man falling from a building before he hits the ground. I attempt to retain the quick gestures I began with throughout the time I spend on a piece. Also, I want the viewer to see a new direction or shape or line in my paintings every time they pass by."
